Impact
Soul Food Fusion Festival serves as the premier fundraiser for the non-profit Southwest Wellness Association of Mississippi (SWAM). This organization was created to serve disengaged youth and re-entry adults. Our mission is to help improve the socialeconomic. status of citizens of Southwest Mississippi by providing educational
experiences and tools needed for successful outcomes. Some of the services we provide are Senior Sunday Super, community wellness checks, food safety and hospitality training, and a host of other services to help improve our community.
Natchez is the oldest documented settlement on the Mississippi River. Because of our history, we have traditionally had a significant racial divide. The purpose of this festival is to embrace the multi-cultural background of this community, transcend racial lines, and bring people together by using food and music. The community dining table experience allows people to bond and find common ground through their shared experiences and love of good food!
As of today, we have:
Helped to place 23 people within jobs in the community
Provided relief to over 1500 families during the Delta 2020 ice storm
Hosted workshops on healthy eating, COVID-19 safety, food safety and sanitation
Served over 6000 meals
